Thank you for the many alternatives to neem. I'm experiencing a particularly difficult powdery mildew. It came up quickly on mature zucchini squash plants. I thinned the plants' leaves and applied 70% neem oil in water solution as directed every 7 days to everything in my garden. Yet, sporatic movement of live spores is still evident on the zucchini, patti-pan, yellow and cushaw squashes as small patches are still appearing after 3 weekly applications. Perhaps "spot" applications of some of your articles treatments will be of benefit to the weekly applications of neem.

I first saw signs of powdery mildew in week 2 of bloom and I began my battle with this crap. After choosing ED ROSENTHALS ZERO TOLERANCE and burning the crap out of my plants, I decided that wasn't going to work for me. I went back to my local grow store and purchased PM WASH. $30 a gallon. The only thing that product washed away was my money and my sanity. The next thing I tried was a product called ACTINOVATE which worked ok but not completely. Then I ordered some GREENCURE on the internet but haven't received it yet. After all that, what I have found to work the best is a home remedy that works for control and prevention. 1 liter water, 1 tsp sesame oil and a few drops of dish soap. I sprayed the plants with my own mix a week ago and haven't seen any sign of a comeback. My garden is in week 7 now and looking good. I love your magazine. THANKS, DARRIN

Great Article Urban Garden.

There are a lot of methods on here I didn't know about. I didn't even know neem worked so well against powder mildew. It is definitely better as a preventative for pests and mildew. Its better to catch those things early then try to ward them off later.
