    Scarification: Day 7 Photo Update

    catnip-seed Not yet.

Seven days after scarification, none of the seeds have germinated. Normal germination is 7-14 days, so hopefully we will see some action this week.

The paper towels all still look to be in healthy condition. If they did not, I would change them with fresh moist paper towels and bags, and treat them with a weak hydrogen peroxide solution.

Note: In the past I have used hydrogen peroxide in this manner with the intent of preventing growth of unwelcome organisms without considering any scarification side-effects. I can attest that it does inhibit growth of unwanted guests.

The image to the left is a dry catnip seed. They are pretty small seeds, the pink in the background is my fingertip, and the stripes are my fingerprints.

The white background is paper towel; notice the fibers in relationship to the seeds.

    Happy holidays all.
