TESTED: Fall 2009
OVERALL SCORE: 89%
MATT’S SCORE: 90%

GROWER BASIC DATA

What base nutrients did you use while testing this product?
Flora Nova Bloom

Do you grow indoors, outdoors, or in a greenhouse?
Indoors

What type of growth media (if any) do you use to root your cuttings / start your seedlings?
Hydroton and Higromite

What were the typical min and max temperatures in propagation, veg and flower?
65-degrees F (18-degrees C) min.
70 to 75-degrees F (21 to 24-degrees C) max.

What is your water source? (E.g. tap, rainwater, RO-machine)
Tap water

What is the pH of your water? (With no nutrients or additives added)
7.1 to 7.5

What is the EC of your water (with no nutrients or additives added)
80-100 PPM

What cloning product do you normally use (if any)? Gel or powder?
Botanicare gel and Schultz powder

Do you use a cloning machine? Can you briefly describe your cloning method?
Cloning in rockwool with rooting hormone.

FEEDBACK

How long did it take for your cuttings to root? Was this normal?
5-14 days. This is normal.

Was the rooting more or less vigorous / the same?
More vigorous. This is what made the difference with this product.

Did you observe an increase in vigor in your plants in early veg stage?
Absolutely.

Did you notice an increase in root mass compared to untreated cuttings / seedlings?
Yes, especially transitioning into deep water culture.

SUMMARY

Was the product easy to use? Are the manufacturer’s instructions clear and accurate?
Yes, but the label needs imperial as well as metric.

As root mass is proportional to yield, do you think that this product made a difference to the final yield?
Not sure that’s the right question, Everest. Yes, it does, but indirectly. It gave a quicker veg, which gave a better yield eventually. It wasn’t like a bloom booster that simply packs on the weight.

Based on your experiences, do you have any hints and tips on getting the most out of this product?
Using tis product to precondition rockwool with cuttings gives a great head start.

Would you use this product again? Your 250ml sample would cost around US $77 in a store. Is it good value for money?
I tend to pay for quality over price most of the time. If this product has a good shelf life, I would definitely consider it worth the money.

GROWER BASIC DATA

What base nutrients did you use while testing this product?
Canna Coco A&B or organic guano tea

Do you grow indoors, outdoors, or in a greenhouse?
All of the above

What type of growth media (if any) do you use to root your cuttings / start your seedlings?
I buy IHORT brand plugs. They are ideal.

What were the typical min and max temperatures in propagation, veg and flower?
Information not available

What is your water source? (E.g. tap, rainwater, RO machine)
Reverse osmosis machine

What is the pH of your water? (With no nutrients or additives added)
7.0

What is the EC of your water (with no nutrients or additives added)
Between 20 and 70 PPM

What cloning product do you normally use (if any)? Gel or powder?
Rootech all the way!

Do you use a cloning machine? Can you briefly describe your cloning method?
No machine. Rootech gel and IHORT plugs. 72 per tray in a dome. Around day 8 or 9 I remove the dome. I spray my cuttings daily. I use Nitrozime, Rhizotonic and Jump Start.

FEEDBACK

How long did it take for your cuttings to root? Was this normal?
7-12 days, as normal

Was the rooting more or less vigorous / the same?
Phenomenal roots! Not only were the roots prolific, but they were thicker and “hairier” than I’ve ever seen.

Did you observe an increase in vigor in your plants in early veg stage?
Yes, it is very noticeable.

Did you notice an increase in root mass compared to untreated cuttings / seedlings?
Absolutely. The difference was easy to recognize.

SUMMARY

Was the product easy to use? Are the manufacturer’s instructions clear and accurate?
Yes. Just be sure and read the part where it says to add the Root X AFTER you pH your nutrient mix.

As root mass is proportional to yield, do you think that this product made a difference to the final yield?
I can’t say for sure, but I believe it had to. I think that developing a prolific, strong root system is one of the most important things to accomplish if you are going to have a great harvest.

Based on your experiences, do you have any hints and tips on getting the most out of this product?
Sorry. No hints or tips. It’s pretty straightforward!

Would you use this product again? Your 250ml sample would cost around US $77 in a store. Is it good value for money?
Yes, I’m converted. In fact, I recently picked up the larger bottle at $127 at the local store. 5.5ml in 5 gallons is very economical.

Root Tech Gel to dip my clones in and Homex in my water

Do you use a cloning machine? Can you briefly describe your cloning method?
EZ-Clone 60 plus Rootech gel with some Homex in my water. I maintain my water temp and sometimes I don’t even adjust my pH at all and still get 100% success every time.

FEEDBACK

How long did it take for your cuttings to root? Was this normal?
Didn’t use product with cloning

Was the rooting more or less vigorous / the same?
The results surprised me. Slightly more vigorous growth of roots, maybe 10-20%. More vertical growth with thicker stems.

Did you observe an increase in vigor in your plants in early veg stage?
I noticed a more vigorous vertical growth.

Did you notice an increase in root mass compared to untreated cuttings / seedlings?
Yes. Always room for more!

SUMMARY

Was the product easy to use? Are the manufacturer’s instructions clear and accurate?
Yes

As root mass is proportional to yield, do you think that this product made a difference to the final yield?
I definitely think that the bigger root zone will always effect my end result. I know that the bigger stock will help when I have large fruits ripening on my branches.

Based on your experiences, do you have any hints and tips on getting the most out of this product?
Go easy on N in your base nutes as Roots Excelurator already has some in it and since it’s so concentrated I don’t want to burn my little guys up.

Would you use this product again? Your 250ml sample would cost around US $77 in a store. Is it good value for money?
Yes, I think so.

Yes

As root mass is proportional to yield, do you think that this product made a difference to the final yield?
It definitely accelerated my root growth! It’s a concentrated solution you can add into your regular feeding schedule to boost your plants’ rooting systems. More root definitely equals more yield!

Based on your experiences, do you have any hints and tips on getting the most out of this product?
I used it to soak my rockwool cubes before cloning, and re-cut all the clones in Roots X solution – this increased my cloning success a lot!

Would you use this product again? Your 250ml sample would cost around US $77 in a store. Is it good value for money?
Seems spendy but 250ml (8.4 ounces) makes 833 liters (220 gallons) so not so bad when you look at it like that!
